1975 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

This Hallmark Christmas Ornament features a hand-painted figurine of Mrs. Claus holding two tiny, grey kittens. She's wearing black shoes, a long red dress and cream-colored, muslin apron, with ruffled edges, tied in the back. The matching muslin mobcap bonnet has a green ribbon, matching the star on the apron pocket. Part of Hallmark's very first collection of handcrafted ornaments, introduced this year, and included in the Tree-Trimmer Collection, it's one of the original 12 ornaments, and the 6-piece "Adorable Adornments" series. This classic piece holds a special place in Hallmark history and is a must-have for dedicated collectors. Don't forget her sweetheart, Santa --he'd like to get a hug from her, as well! NOTE: The pair were also issued as a set of ornaments in 1981: QX4485.

Donna Lee, the artist who sculpted this line to appear as if they were carved from wood, worked for Hallmark from 1958 until she retired in the early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake series, "Nostalgic Houses and Shops."
