For nine year-old Anakin Skywalker, electronics and mechanics are second nature. He is the only known human who can pilot a Podracer, a small cockpit with two high-powered engines. He's even built his own custom Podracer. Befriended on the planet Tatooine by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin is a slave who dreams of being free and training to be a Jedi. Qui-Gon, who senses that the boy is strong with the Force, arranges for him to enter the spectacular Boonta Classic Podrace. Though nearly overcome by the vicious alien Podracer Sebulba, Anakin triumphs--winning the race and his freedom. With Qui-Gon's help, Anakin is on his way to Jedi Training.
