This EXTREMELY RARE Hallmark Keepsake ornament was exclusively offered in Canada during the 2013 Hallmark ornament season.
This Hallmark Keepsake ornament depicts the legendary Montreal Canadian hockey player Maurice Richard, "The Rocket" - who lead the Canadians to 5 Stanley Cup victories during his 18 year NHL career.
Richard scored 544 regular season goals and added 82 more in playoff games.
The back of the box reads: Maurice Richard grew up in Montreal and joined the Montreal Canadiens in 1942. Richard scored 32 goals in 46 games during his first full season, then contributed 12 scores in nine contests to lead the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup over the Chicago Blackhawks in 1944.
Nicknamed the "Rocket", Richard became the NHL's first 50-goals in 50 games shooter in 1944-45. On October 19, 1957, he became the first NHL player to score 500 regular-season goals.
During his 18 year NHL career Richard scored 544 regular season goals and added 82 more in playoff action including 18 winners with 6 in sudden death overtime. He retired in 1960 after leading the Canadiens to their fifth consecutive Stanley Cup Championship and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961. Richard was a hockey hero to sports fans across Canada.
The box is slightly damaged. The front of the box has a soft crease on the front on the right hand side that goes from the top to the bottom of the box.
