He's side-eyeing something, and has a curious grin, as if he's about to get into some trouble, even though he's never actually transformed into a "gremlin." Fun Facts: Screenwriter, Chris Columbus, had originally written the movie script with much darker content, which had the creatures eating Billy's dog and the lovable Gizmo turning into the villainous Stripe. Steven Spielberg intervened and insisted the Gizmo's character should remain heroic. Chris said he got the idea for the spec script while living in a New York loft that was infested with mice, and the noises of them scurrying around during the night were terrifying to him. Warner Bros. sued the creators of the Furby toys, because they looked too much like Gizmo, and they were awarded a seven-figure settlement!
