About The Ornament Factory
It Started With a Missing Darth Vader Ornament
The Ornament Factory began with a missing ornament. When the founder moved out on his own, he took the ornaments he had collected as a child with him. His father later noticed that the 1997 Darth Vader ornament was missing from the family Christmas tree - and eventually found it hanging on his son's tree.
The search for a replacement Darth Vader revealed something much bigger: countless people were looking for ornaments that had been lost, broken, or carried away as children grew up and started homes of their own. Others were trying to complete a favorite series, rebuild a childhood collection, or keep a family tradition going for another generation. That discovery shaped The Ornament Factory into what it is today - a place where collectors can find the ornaments they remember and return a missing piece of Christmas to the family tree.
Decades of Collecting Experience
Today, The Ornament Factory specializes in authentic Hallmark Keepsake ornaments from 1973 to the present. Our selection includes retired and current-year ornaments, numbered series, miniatures, Magic ornaments, Keepsake Ornament Club pieces, limited editions, event exclusives, rare releases, and thousands of familiar characters and Christmas designs.
After decades of collecting, buying, selling, sorting, and identifying ornaments, we know how much the details matter. A year, product code, series number, artist credit, paint color, event marking, or power source can separate one release from another. The original box can help confirm an ornament's identity, while its condition can matter greatly to someone completing a carefully matched collection.
Whenever reliable information is available, our product pages include details such as the release year, artist, series placement, measurements, special features, power requirements, production notes, and box condition. We check ornaments, original packaging, instructions, product markings, Hallmark Dream Books, series records, and trusted collector references. If sources disagree, we compare the available evidence instead of filling the gap with a guess. Our How We Research Ornament Information page explains this process in greater detail.
From Our Ohio Store to The Big Bang Theory
In 2013, ornaments supplied by The Ornament Factory appeared on the Christmas tree in Season 7, Episode 11 of The Big Bang Theory, titled "The Cooper Extraction." We provided Star Wars, Star Trek, and Marvel Hallmark ornaments for the episode, including pieces that fit naturally into the characters' shared love of science fiction and superheroes. The production later sent The Ornament Factory a cast-autographed photograph that remains a treasured part of the company's history. You can see the tree, identify several of the ornaments, and read the complete story in The Ornament Factory on The Big Bang Theory.
Helping You Find the Ornament You Remember
You may be rebuilding the collection your family once had, looking for the ornament that marked a wedding or a baby's first Christmas, or trying to complete a series that has been growing for decades. You may only remember a character, a color, or what the ornament did when it was plugged into the tree lights. Those clues are often enough to begin.
Our Collector Resource Center, Dream Book Archive, and Collector's Guide can help you identify an ornament, learn about a series, understand condition codes, and explore more than five decades of Keepsake history. You can also browse ornaments by year or by series.
If you cannot find a particular ornament, or if you need help identifying one, please email Customer Care. We are always glad to share what we know and help point you in the right direction.
Keeping the Catalog Accurate
Ornament history sometimes hides in unexpected places: a box insert, an old event program, a product marking, or a small difference between two versions of the same sculpt. Collectors occasionally have original material that adds something important to the record. If you notice an error or have documentation that could improve a listing or collector guide, please email us. We review documented corrections and update the catalog when the evidence supports a change.
The Ornament Factory is an independent secondary-market seller and is not affiliated with Hallmark Cards, Inc. Above all, it is a place for people who understand why one small ornament can mean so much.
