Hallmark Ornaments by Adan Chung

Adan Chung has spent much of his Hallmark career finding the essential shapes and expressions that make a character instantly recognizable. He joined Hallmark in 2005 as an illustrator, and one of his informal sketches eventually became the idea behind itty bittys. During a brainstorming session, Chung reduced familiar licensed characters to a few simple, appealing forms. That small doodle grew into an entire plush collection and demonstrated a strength that also appears in his Keepsake work: he knows how to simplify a subject without losing its personality.

Chung’s Hallmark ornament credits currently span 2020 through 2026. Eight distinct designs are credited to him in the ornament catalog, including character pieces, miniature birds, and humorous Christmas subjects. His work on Cozy Critters and its miniature companion series, Cozy Lil’ Critters, uses posture, winter clothing, and carefully chosen accessories to give each bird its own temperament. His Peanuts assignments apply the same clear visual language to Snoopy, including a Magic interpretation of the Flying Ace.
