Thanksgiving entered Hallmark's seasonal collection in 1974, one year after the Keepsake Ornament line began. The earliest pieces were Merry Miniatures: figures made to stand on a table or shelf rather than hang from a branch. That difference matters because this category records two related Hallmark traditions. It begins with tabletop figures and later adds hanging ornaments built around harvest food, gratitude, and characters.

Linda Sickman's 1974 Pilgrims are a boy-and-girl pair, while the 1974 Turkey stands on a patch of grass. Together they show the visual shorthand common in holiday decorations of that time. Their buckled clothing and turkey identify Thanksgiving at once, although they do not tell the full history of the 1621 harvest gathering shared by English colonists and Wampanoag people. Seen today, the figures are useful examples of how American holiday imagery was simplified for small household decorations.

Hallmark later used Peanuts to approach the meal from a more playful angle. The 2012 Gold Crown Exclusive A Thanksgiving Feast brings Snoopy and Woodstock together over toast and jelly beans. Those odd foods recall “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” in which the improvised meal also includes popcorn and pretzel sticks. The joke works because friendship, not a perfect menu, becomes the point of the gathering.

Jim Kemme's Giving Thanks takes a different approach. Snoopy and Woodstock arrive with pie, and the design was the fourth entry in a monthly Peanuts series. It connects Thanksgiving to gratitude and companionship without repeating the television special's famous supper. That distinction makes the two Peanuts releases easy to confuse by theme but different in source and purpose.

The subject remains active in Hallmark's present ornament offerings. A later archive release based on a “Friends” Thanksgiving episode uses sound and Monica's turkey-head costume, showing how the category expanded from harvest figures into television memories. Across its long run, Thanksgiving at Hallmark has moved from tiny standing symbols to story-driven ornaments while keeping the shared meal at its center.
