2001 Oscar Mayer Wienermobile

Out of Stock.

According to company legend, the Wienermobile was born "in what must have been a flash of brilliance and hearty laughter." The original 13 foot long hot dog car was the sales promotion brainchild of Carl Mayer, nephew of company founder, Oscar F. Mayer.

The Wienermobile made its first appearance in 1936 in Janesville, Wisconsin. After WWII, a new Wienermobile was built for each plant location. In the 1950s, sound was added, and the Wienermobile was featured on TV ads thru the '60s. It had limited use in the 1970s.

When the Wienermobile returned for a 50th Anniversary tour (1986), public response was so overwhelming that the company decided to build new ones. This ornament is based on the 2000 model, whose speed is listed as "somewhere between a speeding bullet and ketchup pouring from the bottle."
