1978 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

QX1396DB

This 1978 Hallmark Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and was originally produced and released by Hallmark in 1978, then reissued in 1981. It features a blonde angel with "pasta-like" hair, halo and wings that appear to be made of baker's dough, aka "baker's clay," which can either be edible yeast-dough used for baking bread, or a fun, non-edible salt-dough, used for crafting and sculpting. She's wearing a long, white gown with an empire waist and a pale blue sash that ties in a big bow in the back. It has long sleeves, a dainty blue snowflake scatter-print, and ruffled hem. She's bare-footed and has her eyes closed in prayer, as she holds a star that looks like a perfectly-baked sugar cookie, in her left hand, dangling from a string. The copyright is embossed on the back at the bottom of her gown. The ornament is packaged in a box with clear, plastic lid and green, flocked velvet plastic insert, molded for protection, and a metallic-gold gift card that reads, "WARMEST HOLIDAY WISHES," in green on the cover.

Donna Lee, the artist, worked for Hallmark from 1958 until she retired in the early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake series, "Nostalgic Houses and Shops," and her angels.
