1979 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX3027NT
This 1979 Hallmark Holiday Highlights Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and is a clear acrylic disc with beveled edge, featuring a sunken relief of a Christmas tree, decorated with stylized branches, floral ornaments, a dove at the top, and a round tree-topper dated "1979". The intaglio technique is opposite that of a cameo, which has a raised, outward-protruding design, so when it's viewed from the front, you look through the smooth, clear material and see a detailed, three-dimensional image floating inside. The copyright is embossed on the back at the bottom. Packaged in the original window box, and encased in a molded, clear plastic shell, you can see both the front and back of the ornament.
Fun Fact: Intaglio sunken relief art was widely used for signet rings and wax seals, as the sunken carving makes a raised, positive impression.
Material: Plastic and metal (eyelet)
