1980 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

QX2214DB

This 1980 Hallmark Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and features an unbreakable, white satin ball with transparent plastic sleeve, printed with two "Lollipops" characters. They're caroling outside with three dogs, a cat, mouse, and five birds. The snow falls against a blue Winter sky and black musical notes hang in the air. The child dressed in a red beanie and scarf with green coat and mittens, has a branch in hand, conducting the singing. The child wearing a green cap and mittens with blue earmuffs and coat, holds a songbook and the artist's signature is just underneath, with the caption "Christmas 1980" at the bottom right corner, next to the dated copyright printed on the sleeve. The sentiment spanning both panels reads, "We wish you a Merry Christmas...and a Happy New Year!" The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable on all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.

Martha Arguello, aka Marty Links, was a American cartoonist, who's comic strips ran in various newspapers until 1979, when she decided to design cards for Hallmark, where she worked as an artist, until age 82.
