1982 Arctic Penguin - Damaged Box
1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX3003DB
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament is part of the Ice Sculptures collection, and features a clear acrylic penguin and baby--we can't tell if it's the Mom or Dad, as they both take turns taking care of their young. The ornament is made to look like an ice sculpture and can sit on it's own or be hung from the top. It's packaged in the original box.
Fun Fact: Regardless of the particular penguin species, no baby penguins have the same coloring as their parents. Both baby and juvenile penguins have white, black, brown, and grey coloration, depending on the species. It has been theorized by scientists that the different coloring helps to ensure that adult penguins don't view them as "competition," but "chicks." Juveniles usually have adult feathers within a year, so the "camouflage" protection won't help them after that!
