1982 Santa & Reindeer
1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX4676
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is hand-crafted and features Santa in his sleigh, with four reindeer pulling him and his sack of toys through the sky. The sleigh runners and reindeer are brass-plated and lacquer-coated, for protection. He's wearing his red suit and hat, waving with his left hand, while holding on to his bag of toys with the other. He's got to hang on tight, as it barely fits in the back of the green sleigh, which has metallic-gold trim and a green plaque with metallic-gold snowflake on the front. A blue blanket with metallic-gold trim on the hem lays over his lap and he's wearing green mittens, so he can stay cozy and warm during the long night's flight. The ornament is dated in the copyright on the underside of the base and can stand on it's own or be hung from the top. It's packaged in the original box, with clear plastic lid and green flocked velvet tray, molded for protection.
Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
