Heirloom Angels

Heirloom Angels Hallmark Ornaments

(2016-PRESENT)

Heirloom Angels began in 2016 as an annual series shaped by vintage holiday illustration and old-fashioned figurines. The name describes that visual influence, not the age of these modern Keepsake ornaments. Gowns, halos, wings, hair, glitter, and metallic trim provide the recurring angel form, while yearly changes keep the figures individual.

2017 Heirloom Angels #2, an early Ruth Donikowski design, wears a white gown edged in gold and holds a welcoming wreath.

2023 Heirloom Angels #8 pairs a poinsettia-themed dress with a tiny golden reindeer. The 2024 ninth angel changes both palette and accessory: she wears green with a blue overlay and carries a gold bowl filled with greenery. These consecutive entries show how seasonal plants can appear as dress decoration one year and as part of the figure's action the next.

2025 Heirloom Angels #10 reaches a series milestone in a metallic-green gown with white fur trim and gold leaf accents. A muff held in front adds a winter-fashion detail different from the floral and greenery subjects of the prior two years. The series remained active in 2026, so its range continues beyond number ten rather than ending with the 2025 milestone.

Ruth Donikowski created early entries, and later releases credit Allie Robillard. That artist transition preserved the annual structure while allowing changes in dress construction, hair, halo, and wing shape. Front views emphasize faces and what the angels hold; rear views can reveal how the wings and gown are sculpted. Across the series, the carried object works as a single identification clue, often distinguishing an entry faster than hair color alone.

The religious subject and the holiday fashion details serve different roles. Halos and wings establish each figure as an angel, while fur trim, wreaths, poinsettias, greenery, and metallic accents place the design within Christmas imagery. Some entries lean toward a sacred figure and others toward a seasonal character, yet both approaches remain within the same numbered annual line.
