1982 Betsey Clark #10, Joys of Christmas
1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX2156B
Tenth in the Betsey Clark Hallmark Keepsake series.
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is a white, statin ball with clear plastic sleeve, featuring three Betsey Clark characters looking at a book of photos together. The eldest is seated in a comfy, green chair, with a toddler in yellow sleeper pajamas seated on her lap, and an older tot, dressed in blue, sitting on a yellow and blue rug, next to the chair. A white kitten sleeps next to the tot, who has a present in hand, ready to be put under the little potted Christmas tree, decorated with a star on top and red, yellow, and blue ball ornaments. The ornament is dated "CHRISTMAS 1982" on the yellow paneled walls, opposite an arch-shaped paned window. The message panel shows the little Christmas tree has been moved to the rug, while the kitten paws at the pictures in the book, now on the hardwood floor, and the sentiment on the wall behind reads: "The joys of Christmas are multiplied when shared with those we love." Each panel has a scalloped border with holly clusters in each corner and the dated copyright, printed on the sleeve, in between. The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.
Patricia Andrews, now retired, joined Hallmark in 1976, as an engraver, and became an artist for the Keepsake division in 1987. Best known for her contributions to several highly-collectible series, she spent more than 24 years sculpting the entire wardrove for the "Gone with the Wind" collection and her attention to detail made her Barbie figurines famously fashionable. Beginning in 1995, the series "A Celebration of Angels" took her work into a faith-based direction with exceptionally rich cultural figures.
