1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX2206DB
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is a frosted gold glass ball with metal cap and clear plastic sleeve that reads: "1982 FROM HEAVEN ABOVE THE LIGHT OF LOVE SHINES INTO OUR HEARTS AT CHRISTMAS." The background is solid black and the text and date is metallic-gold, as are the stars in the top right and lower left corners. The opposite panel shows a an angel holding a lit taper candle in her right hand and protecting the flame with her left. She has long brown hair that matches her wings, and wears a headband made of green mistletoe leaves. Her halo is metallic-gold, making a warm aura around her head, and her face and neck are glowing from the candlelight. The green sash that trails behind her flows around her red robes and wings, while metallic gold stars twinkle around her. The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.
Disclaimer: As with many older glass ball ornaments, it may have developed "age spots," which is normal with older ornaments.
NOTE: Golden glass balls have a tendency to develop more age spots than white, frosted, or chrome balls, and this is normal aging for that material.
Fun Fact: The word "angel" is derived from the Greek term "angelos" (???e???), which translates directly to "envoy" or "messenger" (a human courier, royal envoy, or a heavenly being). Religious interpretations, in the Septuagint (Greek translation of the Hebrew bible) and the New Testament, gave the word a specific meaning for divine messengers sent by God, instead of using "apostolos" which differentiated between a general messenger and an authorized ambassador.
