Season's Treatings

Season's Treatings

(2009 - )

Season’s Treatings turns miniature food into dated holiday still life. A related piece appeared in 2008 before the numbered series began in 2009, so the visual idea predates #1. Sharon Visker became closely identified with the line through tiny cookies, cakes, candy, crackers, cheese, cocoa, and serving pieces arranged as scenes rather than loose snacks.

Season’s Treatings #3 from 2011 has an unusually layered release story. Gold Crown stores carried the regular version, one repaint appeared at the Keepsake Club’s 25th Class Reunion, and another repaint went to retailers at the Atlanta Gift Market. The shared sculpt does not make those distributions identical.

Food supplies scale without a human figure. A cookie becomes a platform, a mug a backdrop, frosting snow, and a serving board a stage. Texture is crucial because viewers must distinguish baked crust, glossy candy, soft icing, and ceramic at very small size.

Season’s Treatings #14 and #17 from 2025 show the sequence continuing far beyond the early release variants. Four 2020 special editions carried the miniature-food idea into Easter, patriotic, romantic, and good-luck themes; in 2021, Seasonal Smorgasbord added a Magic feature. The exact range remains recorded as 2009 - . Annual numbers advance through new arrangements; repaints preserve another history beside them. The series’ lasting subject is hospitality made visible through the food prepared for sharing.

The 2011 repaints also show how color can change the apparent flavor and mood of food without changing the arrangement. In miniature cuisine, a pale icing, dark chocolate surface, or bright candy accent may redirect attention toward another item. Distribution makes those palettes historical variants, while the sculpt preserves their common base.

Season’s Treatings differs from a character series because no face returns. Continuity comes from Sharon Visker’s scale, abundance, and careful arrangement. The “character” is the table itself, always prepared for holiday sharing.
